Abstract
The advent of the NVQ system brought the need for qualified staff within veterinary practice to train as assessors. This has helped to improve the employability of veterinary nurses who, if they gain the qualification, are sought after by training practices. This chapter discusses Professional development; Developing roles of the veterinary nurse; Influence of the RCVS Veterinary Nursing syllabus and National Occupational Standard on nursing practice; The nursing process; and Continuing professional development.
