Dr Ana García Fernández from London Vet Specialists will discuss POCUS (Point of Care Ultrasound). Ana´s passion for diagnostic imaging began when she was a fourth-year undergraduate student. After graduation, Ana obtained a rotating internship at Alfonso X El Sabio University, spending one year in alternating services, before moving to the UK to become a general practice veterinary surgeon. Ana has also been a lecturer for a postgraduate degree course in diagnostic imaging (IFEVET) since 2021.She regularly attends European congresses and has many publications in diagnostic imaging. This POCUS course will show you how to perform emergency ultrasound, dividing the session in two parts where we will talk about T-FAST and A-FAST. This will allow you how to recognise the normal findings and the most common abnormalities on both T-FAST and A-FAST, and you will also learn how to perform an abdominocentesis and a thoracocentesis, being able to diagnose and treat/stabilize your emergency cases. Intended Learning Outcomes To know how to perform an A-FAST and an T-FAST correctly. To identify possible alterations and pathologies.
