This Bourgelat Lecture, The Weird and Wonderful World of Endocrinology, is delivered by Professor Ian Ramsey BVSc PhD DSAM DipECVIM CA FHEA FRCVS, recipient of the 2026 BSAVA Bourgelat Award, which recognises outstanding international contributions to small animal practice and science.

Drawing on over 30 years of experience in veterinary endocrinology, Professor Ramsey presents a selection of rare, unexpected and memorable endocrine cases that go far beyond the familiar presentations of diabetes, thyroid disease and hyperadrenocorticism. Through clinical storytelling and reflection, the lecture offers valuable diagnostic insights and highlights the learning that can emerge from unusual and once in a career cases.
