How do I create a BSAVA account?

Anyone can create a free BSAVA Library account by clicking here and filling in their details. This will give you access to personalised features such as favourite content and search alerts.

If you have an existing login for the BSAVA website, whether you are a member or not, you can use that to log into the BSAVA Library and an account will automatically be created for you.

How do I save favourite content?

Once logged in, you can save favourite content which you are reading by clicking on the, heart-shaped, ‘Add to my favourites’ icon, on the right-hand-side of the page. For more information about using personalised features, see the ‘How To’ video, below.

Can I save my searches and receive content alerts?

Saved searches and content alerts can all be managed via the ‘ My BSAVA Library Account’ menu, which can be accessed, once logged in, by clicking on the icon towards the top right hand corner of the page. For more information about using personalised features, see the ‘How To’, video, below.

What do CrossRef and Google Scholar links on references mean?

Some references include a link to CrossRef - clicking this link will take you to the article on the publisher's website, although whether you have access to the full text of that article will depend on whether the article is available as open access or whether you or your institution has a subscription to that content. Most journal articles are CrossRef-linked but this may not apply to books or older articles. Where a Google Scholar link is shown, clicking the link will take you to the reference in Google Scholar. The link will be shown regardless of whether the reference is indexed in Google Scholar, so you may often find that Google Scholar cannot find the article (especially in the case of books and older content). These links are outside the control of the BSAVA Library.

What content is available in print?

Most of our manuals and guides are available as a printed edition from the BSAVA store. This includes all manuals, guides and the BSAVA Formulary. If you prefer to buy the print edition please click on the ‘buy printed version’ button where applicable. Please note that the BSAVA Guide to Nutrition, the BSAVA Guide to the Use of Veterinary Medicines, PROTECT ME antibacterial guidance and some other resources are only available online via the BSAVA Library.
