Abstract

Until recently, nutritional strategies have largely focused on altering the composition of foods in order to alleviate stresses on certain organ types. However, arguably the most exciting development in clinical nutrition has been the appreciation that certain nutrients have pharmacological effects and can directly modulate pathophysiological processes and thus affect the outcome of some diseases. This chapter observes Immune-enhancing diets; Other nutraceuticals and use in veterinary medicine; and Conclusions.
