The BSAVA has put together some advice to help backyard poultry owners protect their birds from AI. This short collection draws together some of our existing content relating to both AI and backyard poultry keeping to provide further guidance on the topic.

Focus on mycobacterial infections
In the January 2020 edition of Companion, Danièlle Gunn-Moore and Conor O’Halloran, respected specialists on mycobacteriosis in both cats and dogs including recently important work on Mycobacterium bovis, answered reader’s questions on mycobacterial infection.
With the incidence of mycobacterial infections in small companion animals on the rise and the associated risk this poses to public health, it is important that veterinarians have access to accurate information on which to base decisions related to diagnosis and management. Owners must also be made aware of the potential zoonotic risks plus the costs and possible complications of treatment. This is a short collection to provide some of the answers to assist in your decision making when faced with mycobacterial infections.
