Abstract

The care and treatment of wildlife casualties presents special challenges to the veterinary surgeon not only in terms of unusual species and their lack of habituation to captivity, but also in respect of the legislation that applies to the rescue of sick and injured wild animals and their rehabilitation and release. The purpose of this chapter is to point to the areas of law that are particularly relevant to wildlife rehabilitation and which may be useful to those who work in this field.
