Increased importation of pets in the face of expanding global parasite distributions is increasing the risk of pets infected with exotic parasites entering the UK. Rapid recognition of clinical signs, effective use of preventative treatments and screening tests in imported dogs are vital, both to improve prognostic outcomes for infected dogs and limit parasite spread and zoonotic risk. Information on the parasite’s likely to be encountered and available tests is changing rapidly. This course will summarise the most common parasitic diseases seen in imported dogs and the pathogens that cause them. Updates on diagnostic and treatment options will be given. The evening will include a series of interactive cases so you can pit your wits against the exotic pathogens recently see in UK practice!
