Abstract
Veterinary nurses are commonly involved in haematology – from preparing and examining samples in the laboratory, to caring for patients with anaemia, white blood cell, platelet or coagluation disorders. This session looks at the fundamentals of haematology, including the function and production of the various blood cell types, the pathophysiology of common haematological disorders and their clinical signs, and the veterinary nurse’s role in haematological testing.
