Matthew Oxford is one of only a handful of veterinary dentists in the UK and established the New Forest Veterinary Dental Service in 2011 to provide a service for referral veterinary dental and oral surgery procedures for other veterinary practices. He has written this short article to offer a pragmatic approach to the extraction of root fragments and, especially in the case of iatrogenic root fractures, this approach is useful to mitigate some of the stress of the procedure.
