The BSAVA/SAMSoc non-prescription form Author Fergus AllertonAlongside the 2018 version of the PROTECT ME poster, BSAVA and SAMSoc developed a Non- Prescription form to support vets to close out a consultation where they feel that antibiotics are not warranted. This resource has been amended and improved to include an extra condition that can be managed without antibiotics (cat bite abscesses) and a QR code link to more detailed information for the pet owner. This short article by Fergus Allerton provides the evidence behind non-prescription forms and invites vets to consider incorporating them into their daily practice.
