BSAVA Alba 2025 welcomed over 230 professionals to the Crowne Plaza Glasgow for two packed days of CPD, networking, and industry innovation. It was fantastic to see the veterinary community come together in such strong numbers in Scotland.

  Contextualised care is a fashionable term at present, yet it is hardly a new idea. Wherever they work, vets have always had to provide services appropriate to the technical skills, equipment and finance available. The UK charity Worldwide Veterinary Service is helping support vets in developing countries to provide high standards of care in less than perfect situations. John Bonner reports…

Following a concerning rise in attacks and fatalities caused by XL Bully dogs in 2023 the breed was added to the list of dogs banned in England and Wales. In 2024, similar legislation was introduced in Scotland and Northern Ireland. It is now illegal for anyone in the UK to own an XL Bully-type dog without a Certificate of Exemption.
