Whilst working as a rotating intern at Northwest Veterinary Specialists in Runcorn, Niall Doherty saw the case of a Domestic Shorthair cat displaying a week’s history of altered behaviour.

Guidelines for neutering cats and dogs Author BSAVABVA and BSAVA have published their joint Policy Position on the Neutering of Cats and Dogs (February 2026). The joint Policy Position examines the current evidence base, including the WSAVA Guidelines for the Control of Reproduction in Dogs and Cats (published in 2024), to support vets in small animal practice in their decision making when considering neutering.
