Neutropenia results from impaired granulopoiesis and/or overwhelming infection, where tissue demands exceed granulopoiesis. There are no clinical signs associated with neutropenia in itself – the signs are due to the underlying disease and secondary infection. The chapter looks at pathophysiology and consequences; clinical presentation; diagnosis; therapy.
