Abstract
House soiling is the preferred term for elimination in the house. It has also been called inappropriate elimination, but this implies that it is an inappropriate behaviour of the dog when it is almost always a normal canine behaviour, though in a place the owner finds objectionable. This chapter looks at evaluation of the patient, defecation and urination, marking, prognosis, follow-up, prevention of the problem, other behaviour problems contributing to house soiling.
