Abstract
This chapter focuses on preventing and ameliorating the harmful effects of toxicants in veterinary patients, reviews triage and stabilization of the poisoned patient and provides information on obtaining an appropriate toxicological history, decontamination, appropriate use of activated charcoal, and overall symptomatic and supportive care of the poisoned patient. Specific common toxicants are also reviewed.
